Summer Sunshine

Summer is just too short to not celebrate it!  What better way to spend summer than at the beach in the sun?  I only wish that we lived close enough to a warm beach to go, because it sure hasn't been very hot or sunny here in Alberta!

This week at Paper Sundaes, our challenge is clouds and sky.  I've used a stipple technique and cloud mask and masked over this Belles 'n Whistles 'Tube Wear' girl to create the summer sky behind her.

I've paired her up with a sentiment from Lili of the Valley, some Echo Park 'Splash' papers, a bit of Divine Twine, and some embellishments from the 'stash' :)

I hope you are enjoying a marvelous summer and finding lots of time for relaxing and enjoying the sun!  If you have the chance, come play along with us at Paper Sundaes!

A Christmas Tilda Tag

This year I'm going to try to make more of my gift tags, for those special people who I know will appreciate them on their gifts :)  I've had this mini Starlight Tilda since last year, but hadn't inked her up, so today was her turn :)

I've kept it pretty clean and simple, with some lace tucked behind Tilda, and some glitter on her wings and wand from my new Spica glitter pen.

The paper is from Little Yellow Bicycle.  I simply cut the strips apart and switched them around a bit.  I really wanted the kraft to show more.

Sweet Innocence and an Anniversary

I have to admit, these MFT Pure Innocence girls are one of my absolute favourite stamp lines!  This one is called Pure Innocence - Lily of the Valley.  I've also used my MFT jumbo scallop die and Pretty Posies die.

I had a bit of trouble getting the colour to show accurately, as you can tell if you look at the ribbon!  LOL... on one end it looks red, and at the other it looks yellow, but in actual fact, it's orange to match her dress!  I think my next purchase will have to be a real light box.

Today is also the anniversary of the date my hubby and I met, many many years ago.  I won't state how many, but suffice it to say, we've been together for over half our lives! (and this is the first year my hubby could make that claim :)  I think a special supper is in order... maybe I'll even wear my wedding ring!  :)

Dangling Tilda

Okay, I admit it, I'm not very happy with this card!  I find the stamps from the nautical themed Magnolia kit from last year very hard to use.  I couldn't decide if I should share this, or toss it in the bin.  In the end though, here it is.

I've paired Tilda up with some of the recent 'Little Boy' line from Echo Park, and some raffia, pearls and a charm from my stash.

I'm still not sure about this one, maybe it'll grow on me.

Summer Fun

At Paper Sundaes this week, our challenge is Beach or Summer creations.  Our sponsor this week is Michelle's Scrapbooking & More.  I've ordered through Michelle several times now; she enables my copic habit :)  We haven't had much summery weather here yet, but I can still live vicariously through my crafts!

For our challenge this week, I couldn't resist using one of my favorite stamps, Start Each Day With Whee, a Pure Innocence stamp from My Favorite Things.  This card started out totally different, and ended up with a last minute complete change from a rectangular card using a different sketch, to a circle easel card LOL... the only thing that survived the transition was the main image and green circle die cut that's mounted on :)

From Michelle's, I've used my copic markers and refills, and my favorite Memento Ink.

I also wanted to give everyone a copic tip today:
You know how the inside caps of your markers can build up a lot of ink?  Most of us know that you can use that for the palette blending technique.  My tip is that if you get too much build up, you should actually remove it rather than blend with it, so you don't get your nibs dirty.  To clean it, you need to use q-tips and some blending solution.  Dip your q-tip in your colourless blender from your refill, and then swab off your marker cap and around the plastic base of your nib, and presto, it's sparkly clean again.  If you contaminate one tip, it quickly spreads as you blend your various colours.

Now it's time to get this scheduled and head to bed, you don't want to know what time it is!  :)

Shaker Ornament

After seeing Kylie's beautiful shaker ornament the other day, I just had to make one up for the interactive challenge at Anyone for Anya.  I had this adorable Candle Emma from CC Designs that I hadn't inked up yet, so I decided that she would be perfect for this!  She is a bit bigger than the image Kylie used, so I kept mine a bit simpler for decorations in order to not cover her head up.

I've used some short glitter beads that have been in my craft stash for ages.  I've also covered Emma's dress with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

I actually cut apart my sizzix replacement plate packaging to use the acetate for the cover.  It's always good to re-purpose :)  I've used the same 'Girl's Paperie' Paper that I used on my card last week, since it was sitting out still, and I just love it!

Pink Ink Sketch challenge entry

As soon as I saw the sketch at the new sketch challenge blog Pink Ink, I knew I wanted to play along, but then life got in the way and I almost ran out of time!  I'm sneaking this one in on the last day.

I've used this adorable Lili of the Valley stamp 'Emma Presents' that was crying out for me to ink her up :)

It looks like she had a lot of fun buying presents!

My apologies, I didn't keep track of my copic colours last night!  The papers are Echo Park 'Country Lane', and the flowers are Wild Orchid.

Catch a Falling Star

I seem to be on a creative roll right now; I am loving all of the free time that summer has brought!  The past two days have been so beautiful!  I think tomorrow I will take a crafting break, and go check out some of the funky stores in our university area.  A stroll sounds really nice right now!

I did struggle a bit with the lighting on this one, sorry!

My card today uses one of the older Some Odd Girl digis, Star Bright Tia.  The Some Odd Girl challenge right now is to case one of their designers.  I decided to case the 'Some Odd Girl' herself, Kristy!

Last night was a bad time to run out of gems.  Since our local scrapbook store was already closed, I ended up hitting Michael's, and bought these gems there.  Unfortunately, I didn't realize that every gem was attached side by side on the roll.  I ended up having to pull each gem off of it's adhesive and glue them on with my two-way glue, very time consuming!  Plus, once they were down, there was no moving them to adjust!  lol... Time to stock up on gems... maybe an i-rock?  If you have one, let me know what you think of it!

 Copic Colours: Y11, 13, 15 / R22, 24, 27, 29 / E000, 00, 21, 11, 93 / E30, 31, 34, 35 / C00, N5

The gems do sparkle nicely though, as you can see in the closeup!

Now I'm off to fix dinner for my munchkins... Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas in July with Paper Sundaes

This week at Paper Sundaes, we've gone with a theme of Christmas in July.  What a great time to get ahead on this year's Christmas cards!

This poor Tilda Wants A Hug from last fall's Magnolia kit had yet to be inked up, so I decided to use her for my card this week.  I've paired her up with one of my favourite Christmas papers by The Girls Paperie.  It almost killed me to cut into it!

I decided to play around some more with the folds technique I tried the other day, but in red this time.  It's always fun working with reds!

Be sure to stop by our challenge blog and check out all of the amazing inspiration from my teammates!

Birthday Wishes

What a wonderful day today is going to be!  I am using the power of positive thinking to light up our sky with beautiful sunshine.  I am not just relying on the fates to provide the sunshine though; I've added lots of bright colours and yellow sunshine in my card today!

I just love this Birthday Tia from Some Odd Girl, she just looks so happy and friendly!  I've paired her up with some papers from Echo Park's Little Boy line.  I think they look perfect with her though, not boyish at all!

I've kept the layout clean and simple, just adding a sentiment from Close to My Heart and some gems from my stash.

Copic Colours:

Flourishes sketch challenge

I managed to sneak in enough time to play along with the current sketch challenge at Flourishes.  I've used the pansies from their A Year in Flowers 1 stamp set.  Flourishes has the most beautiful floral stamps, and they are so much fun to colour!

I also am entering this into the Anything Goes Challenge at Simon Says Stamp!  Now I am off to get ready to go out, but hopefully I will be back again with a longer post tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by!

Tilda in teal

Good morning!  Thank goodness it's Wednesday, half way to the weekend!

Normally in our family, that wouldn't matter much in the summer, but this summer our son is taking a couple summer classes to free up some room in his heavy course load, and since they squish everything into two weeks, he's been doing about 6 hours of homework a day.  The first of his two courses ends on Friday, and I can't wait!

As soon as I saw the challenge at Make It Colourful, I knew I just had to create a card for it.  It was pure coincidence that I used the same Tilda and colours as Zoe did in her video, but the folds in her dress are definitely not coincidental :)  This poor Watercan Tilda has been waiting months for me to find time to play with her, and I had her all stamped out and waiting for me last week so it seemed like fate :)

I've actually changed up the direction of a few of the pleats, but other than that, it's pretty similar :)  I had picked up this beautiful 'Crate Paper' paper last month, and it just screamed at me to use my favourite colour set BG11, 13, 15 with it.  The flowers are cut with my favourite Magnolia Doohickey.

Copic Colours:
skin- E000, 00, 21, 11, 93
hair & shoes - E30, 31, 33, 34, 35, 37
dress & socks - BG11, 13, 15, 49
watering can & trowel - T0, 1, 3, 5, 7
flowers - R24, 27
grass - YG91, 93

Rolling into Summer & Candy Winner!

Ah, I love summer!  Can you tell?  A card, three days in a row!  And several more in the works.  We're tied down here while my son takes health as a summer class to make room for more academic classes during the school year, so if we're stuck in town, I might as well put my free time to good use!

My poor Maggies have been so ignored, I just had to play with this cutie, Explore Tilda!  She is out enjoying the summer sun for both of us, since it won't stop raining here, and if it did, the mosquitoes are so bad you don't want to go out anyway!

I've paired her up with some older My Mind's Eye papers from my stash, some seam binding and a few pearls.  I coloured her up a few weeks back, so I don't have the list of colours, sorry!  Hopefully you can see the Diamond Glaze on the magnifying glass and wings in the closeup.

And now for the winner of my blog candy that was delayed almost a month.  My apologies for the delay.  I had timed the end of my candy perfectly so that it would be all wrapped up leading up to two trips away, but the Canada Post Strike through a monkey wrench into my plans, and by the time it was over, I was prepping to head out to chaperone 30 swimmers for 5 days.  Do you know how much food 30 swimmers eat in 5 days?  It boggles the mind... good thing I did a lot of the cooking before we left, because that would not have been fun to make in a hotel room kitchenette.

Enough blabbering, right? did it's thing, and it drew #2, Fiona!

Congrats, Fiona!  I guess this one is going across the pond :)

Thanks everyone for playing along!  And thanks for stopping by!

Paper Piecing With Paper Sundaes

This week at Paper Sundaes, our challenge theme is 'Paper Piecing', and we are sponsored by Heather Ellis, the creator of Pure Innocence.  I absolutely love her girls, whether from her digital store, or from My Favorite Things.  My card today uses a digi from her store.

I might have gone a bit overboard with the paper piecing... I've actually paper pieced her dress, the note paper, her arm over-top the dress and notepaper so that it would have a correct dimensional feel, and also the red envelope.  I've also used my copics to add some shading to all of the paper piecing to match the shading in the coloured bits.

I've finished it up with a sentiment from Close to My Heart, some stitching, and added a few jewels, but overall tried to keep it pretty clean and simple.

Pure Innocence Crazy for Daisies

After about 2 weeks off, I have finally found some time to craft!  It felt so good to play with my markers and take time to relax after a crazy, crazy month.  It's not very often that I'm really happy with how a card turns out, but I think this one turned out pretty well!  :)

When I saw the current MFT sketch, I just had to colour up this adorable MFT Pure Innocence 'Crazy For Daisies'.  I've actually paired her up with a sentiment from MFT's Pure Innocence 'My Balloon'.  I'm still working on deepening the shading on my skin tones.  I've used palette blending to add some darker browns, since I still can't bring myself to add E33 directly to her face :)

Copic Colours:
Skin- E000, 00, 21, 11, 33
Hair- E30, 31, 33, 35, 37
Dress, shoes- B0000, 000, 00, 02
Flowers- Y15, 17, 11, W0, YG63, 67

I've also done the inside up to match:

I've used my MFT Flower Trio Die-namics to decorate the inside.

With the Canada Post strike and my two trips out of town, I was forced to delay my blog candy draw from the original date.  There is still one day left to enter if you're interested, the link is at the top of my sidebar.
