Top 5 or 6 for 2010!

Debby has challenged all of us to pick our top 5 from 2010!

It was fun looking back at how my style has changed in 2010, with my newfound love of copic markers!

Here are my top 6 from 2010:

This week's LOTV card was an easy pick.  It was so nice to break away from all of the Christmas stamps and colours and get back to something soft and warm :)

Next up was this love themed card from my Dec. Guest DT position at All That Scraps.  It was such an honour to be asked, that was definitely a crafting highlight of 2010!

Third up is this Magnolia card.  I really liked the way it turned out, and it will be fondly remembered for being selected for the home page of the Magnolia-licious Yahoo group for the month of December!  What a thrill to see it there every time I went to the home page there!

My fourth pick was this Tilda card.  I had a hard time giving this one away :)

And my final pick:  Not a typical creation for me, but I had so much fun playing and trying new things, that I just had to pick it:
What a perfect ATC card for me, with that sentiment... LOL... Maybe that should be my new personal anthem :)

Be sure to stop by Debby's blog and join in on the fun!

Moving on from Red and Green!

I am continuing my personal celebration of escaping from making Christmas cards, and all of the wintry colours :)  My card today uses a stamp from the last Lili of the Valley release called Rosie With Cake.  I think it was one of my favorite releases, ever!  The sentiment is also from LOTV, from their Dreamy Days Circular Sentiments set.

I've paired this cutie up with my new favorite line of paper... Echo Park!  That red looking cardstock is actually a bright pink, I really need better lighting!

Here's a close-up:

I've used some crystal stickles on her head band stars and the candle flame.

ATS Dec Guest DT week 4

I can't believe that this is my last week as the Guest Designer for All That Scraps!  The time has truly flown by this month.  That might have something to do with 8 days away from home, plus Christmas, etc though!  :)  Amy has been amazing to work with, so kind and sweet!  I am very sad that it's coming to an end so soon.

For my project this week, I paired up Sugarplums Spring Couple with sentiments from this month's All About Love sentiment set on the front, and this beautiful sentiment from this month's Love-ly sentiment set on the inside.

Here's a closeup:

and the inside:

Don't forget to check out All That Scraps blog here to see this week's Guest Designer post.  Keep an eye out there, too... they also have give-aways with each month's release.

Celebrate Good Times

Oh so close to Christmas... it was so nice to make something that wasn't green and red!  Today I have a card made with one of my favorite Whiff of Joy stamps called Willow Dancing.

The whole time I made this card, the song 'Celebrate Good Times' was playing in my head lol...

Elisabeth Bell has a wonderful give-away on her blog here, you should check it out!  Now I am off to pick up a few last things for tomorrow!  Thanks for stopping by!

ATS Guest DT week 3 Part 2

My second project for this week's December Guest DT position at All That Scraps is a set of Valentine's cards using Amy R's All About Love sentiment set.  I've kept them clean and simple.  It would be so easy to whip out an entire kids class worth of these in an evening!

The cards are A2 size.  The smaller strips of patterned paper are 2 x 5.25 so you can get 12 strips out of one sheet of 12 x 12 paper.  I also cut the bases out of 12 x 12 and used the scrap off the bottom to cut the oval sentiment mats.  I've used co-ordinating patterned paper so that I can mix and match the various colours for matting.

Here are some close-ups.  Card 1:

And it's inside:

And card #2 and #3:

They have similar insides to the first :)

What a nice change to play with something that's not Christmas!

ATS Dec Guest DT week 3

Good morning!  This week marks the third week of my guest DT position at ATS!  Each week I answer some questions about me on their blog, you can read it here :)

For my first of this week's projects, I have paired the Sugarplums Snowy Fence with Penelope & Juniper from last month's C.C. Designs / Sweet November release.  This is hopefully one of my final Christmas cards, I just need to finish writing in them and addressing, then get them in the mail!!

Copics:  (Partial list only)
reds: R27, 29, 59
Greens: YG03, 17
Skin:  E000, 00, 02 Hair: E30, 34, 35
Fence: 40, 41, 44, W1

The sentiment is from a CC Designs AmyR set called Christmas Card Greetings.  The papers are from last year's christmas Crate Paper collection.  I've added Dazzling Diamonds for her trim, and Martha Stewart's Snow Glitter to the fence for some sparkly snow.

Still plugging away

So much left to do, and so little time!  I don't know about you, but I am nowhere near ready for Christmas! At Paper Sundaes, we are giving ourselves a bit of a break, so this week's challenge will actually run for two weeks!  Our sponsor is Simon Says Stamp, so be sure to stop by and play along!

Our challenge this week is to 'Cut it out'!  We'd like you to use your scissors :)  Sometimes I get too busy playing with all of my other stamps, and my hAnglars end up getting neglected, so this week I used a favorite of mine.

skin- E000, E00, E02
hair- E30, 33, 34, 35, 37
Coat- R29, 59, W1, 3
Pants, glove, scarf- C3, 5, 7, 9

I've coloured her with Copics and added Marvy Uchida puff paint on her trim.  The papers are by Teresa Collins.  I've kept this one nice and flat for easy mailing :)

Paper Sundaes a little late!

Luckily all of the girls at Paper Sundaes are wonderful, and they let Shana and I have the weekend off for our trip to the mountains!  (Photos still to come, I promise!  I just need to get them from her!)  While we were away, I coloured this cute Meljen's image, as they are our sponsor this week!  Our challenge this week is 'Anything but a square or rectangle', so this should definitely cover that!  :)

Before I gift this, I will wrap the entire thing in cellophane to keep it all together, and to protect the marshmallows!

Lighting this was a struggle, so you get two shots for this one!  Plus a close-up:

I've tucked hot chocolate mix and mini marshmallows inside, and tucked in some Marshmallow skewers.  Both marshmallows are dipped in Callebaut chocolate, and then one was dipped into broken up candy cane bits.  My daughter was kind enough to hammer a candy cane to bits for me :)

You can find the template for the coffee cup on the Scor-pal site here!  I did modify my pattern to make mine bigger than their instructions.  I also had trouble adhering the bottom and keeping the shape right, so before I glued it, I cut an octagon to fit inside it exactly, and another to glue to the bottom for extra stability.  The added benefit of this was that now you can't see all of the unfinished strips in the bottom!

Still finishing up my Christmas Cards!

I must be one of the last of us cardmakers still working on their Christmas cards... next I need to get some in the mail! Yikes!  It's been so crazy here, with being away 6 out of the last 10 days, there hasn't been much time to get things done.

This is one of the cards I created during our crafty weekend in Jasper with Shana!  We both took our stamp collections along with us, and this is one I created with her 'Tilda hanging ornaments'.

It took us about half an hour to haul all of our stuff into our room... then we cheated at check-out and called the bell-hop!  Poor guy, he sure earned his tip!  lol

Here's a close-up, hopefully you can see the sparkle on the tops of the ornaments :)

Skin- E000, E00, E02 ; Hair- E30, E33, E34, E35, E37
Pants- E40, 41, 47 (with lots of palette blending!!)
Shirt, socks, ornament- YG01, YG03, YG17, YG67
red ornament- R27, 29 ; lace- E40
gold touches- Y23, Atyou Spica pen)

The sentiment is a freebie from Bizzy Bec's, you can find it here.  The paper is by Imaginisce.

Still one more project to post tonight!  Don't forget to check out my candy here.  Thanks for stopping by!

ATS December Guest Designer, Week 2

I have so many things to share here over the next few days!  I've just gotten back from my weekend away with Shana.  We had so much fun, and I managed to finish a few projects, and coloured a couple images for some other upcoming projects.  Unfortunately I forgot my camera at home, but after she uploads her photos I will post some of them here!

Today I have this week's project for my All That Scraps December Guest DT position.  This one took a while!

Copics: Skin- E000, E00, E02, E04 ; Dress- C1, C3, C5, C7 ; Hair- E30, E34, E35

I've used Norma's Paper Lantern Tutorial that you can find here!  This fairy is the beautiful Neva from this month's new release from Sweet November Stamps.

This beautiful fairy is Nixie, also from this month's new release from Sweet November Stamps.

Copics:  skin- E000, E00, E02. E04 ; dress- B91, B93, B34 ; hair- Y23, E51

I was really struggling to get a photo that showed the bling on their dresses; every shot I took that showed the sparkle ended up very out of focus.  In this closeup you can see the sparkle on Nixie's dress. She has a pearl belt, and her fur cuffs are also glittered.  Neva is also blinged out, and she has a sparkly gem belt.

I've filled my paper lantern with Lindt chocolate truffles to give away as a Christmas present... if they last that long!  It's probably a bad thing that the lid lifts off and on ;)

I should enter this into a few challenges:
7 Kids Challenge:  Winter Wonderland
Simon Says Stamp:  Christmas but no red or green
Fussy and Fancy:  Anything But a Card
Incy Wincy Designs:  Christmas- Use non-traditional colours
Cupcake Craft Challenges:  Non-traditional Christmas
Stamp with Fun:  Christmas
Bunny Zoe's Challenge #7: Sparkle and Shine
iCopic blog:  Color Challenge
Totally Gorjuss: snow
Crafts and Me:  Moody Blues

I have two more projects I'm hoping to get posted today, so I hope you'll stop back!  Don't forget to enter my candy here!  Thanks for stopping by!

ATS Guest DT Week 1 continued

Things have been so busy here, I haven't had time to post my other All That Scraps Guest DT card for this week!  It's terrible to admit, but I'm still working frantically on my Christmas cards.  I paired up the adorable Brrr Emma with a CC Designs Sugarplums Bench, and used one of Amy R's Christmas Card Greetings on the inside.

In all of the Christmas chaos, I seem to have lost my list of colours, but if I find it, I will edit it in later!  The papers are from Echo Park.

Here's a close-up:

In the close-up, you can really tell the difference between the papers I used.  Brrr Emma is on Gina K, and if you look on her shoes you can see that it looks different.  That's because of the glossiness.  The bench is on PTI, so it is much more matte, no light reflection showing.  I'm dying to try Cryogen to see what it's like.  PTI's shipping to Canada is too high for me.

And the inside:

Mark's Finest Papers:  Red & Green
Crazy Challenge:  All I want for Christmas
A Spoon Full of Sugar:  Christmas Cards
Creative Card Crew:  Anything Goes
Shabby Tea Room:  Tis the Season

Thanks so much for stopping by!

ATS December Guest Designer, Week 1

As I was thrilled to announce on Wednesday, this month I am the Guest Designer on the All That Scraps store blog!  They run a weekly Guest Designer segment on their blog where I have to answer a bunch of questions about myself.  So if you'd like to get to know me better, you can head over there and check out my answers from Wednesday's announcement post, and today's post as well.  There will be more on each of the following Mondays in December.

I'll share one of them here :)
If you could only take 3 (stamping) things with you to a deserted island they would be:  Ooh, that would have to be my copic markers, my enormous stash of stamped images, and some Copic multi-liners (They’ll come in handy for writing messages on my paper scraps to put into bottles that wash ashore.  ‘Help!  Stranded on deserted island!  Send ink refills!')
And now for the first of today's cards!  For this card, I used the adorable Sugar Plums Polar Bear that is for sale starting today!

He was so much fun to colour!  I used a medium that I don't think I've ever used to colour a full image with before:  Chalks!  Hopefully you can see in the close-up the wide variety of colours I've used on him for shading.  He's got pink, yellow, blue, purple, grey and black to give him lots of dimension, hopefully. :)

Now I need to run and walk my dog.  She's just home from a 4 day vacation with my in-laws, and is dying for some attention!  I'll be back later today with my other All That Scraps project for this week!

Cute Card Thursday:  The Blues
Stamptacular Sunday:  Blue, Blue Christmas
Paper Play:  Monochrome
Tip Top Tuesday:  Anything Goes
Christmas Card Challenges:  Monochromatic

Thanks for stopping by!  Don't forget to enter my blog candy while you're here :)

Did you know? (blogger beginners)

I haven't had any time to create this past week, so I thought I would post this tip instead.

Did you know that if you don't have your profile set to include your blog address, you may miss out on visitors to your blog?  If you leave a comment on someone's blog and they want to return the favour, they won't be able to find you unless you have your blog link in your profile.

When you view your profile (For example, by clicking on the 'view my complete profile' link, if you have this on your blog), if it lists your blog address, then people can find you.  If it's not there, click the edit profile link.  That will take you to the 'Edit User Profile' page.  Here, you can add your blog address in two ways.  Under the Privacy section, there is a 'Show my blogs' option that allows you to select which of your blogs you would like to show in your profile.  In the General section, you can also add your blog or website in the Homepage URL spot.

Be sure to click 'Save Profile' if you make any changes!

Hope that helps someone :)

Celebration Candy

I can't believe 2010 is almost over!

I wanted to have a candy to celebrate all of the good things that have happened over the last year.  There's been ups and downs, but that's life, right?  All in all, it was a great year!

To celebrate, here is some sweet stuff for all of my followers!

Sometimes it feels like a bit of a let down when Christmas is over, and there's still so much of winter left to go, so I thought I would have this candy run until Jan. 5th at noon, my time.  That way there's something to look forward to!  :)

In order to enter:

1.  You must be a follower.

2.  You must post my candy photo (linked back to my blog) in your sidebar.

Leave your name in inlinkz below, and you're in!

Wishing everyone who celebrates, a wonderful Christmas!  And a fantastic 2011 for all!

So hard to keep secret! And a long story!

A few weeks ago I was thrilled and stunned to receive an email from All That Scraps inviting me to be their Guest Designer for the month of December!  I'm pretty sure that my dog jumped at least a foot in the air from my shrieking!  :)

Of all the months, it just *had* to be December, right?  lol... but there was no way I would ever say no to one of my favourite stamp companies!

It was like Christmas and my birthday all rolled into one when my package of stamps arrived!  How exciting to open it up, knowing that I was one of the first people to get a chance to create with them.

After much angst trying to get my first card done just right, wouldn't you know that right before I was going to photograph it, something would happen?  Sure enough, Murphy's Law kicked in, big time!  One minute it's laid out all pretty, and ready to go.  The next?  Milk is flying through the air!  It was like a scene out of a movie, in slow motion.  A gigantic wave that sprayed across the room 6 or 7 feet, decimating everything in it's path.  Apparently my daughter lost her grip on her glass, and when she tried to catch it as it fell, she instead launched it forward!  My poor girl, I think she was more upset than I was!

Both of my kids and I hurried to see what could be salvaged, while the tears streamed down her face and dripped off her chin.  My little miss Molly, our dog, also hurried; determined to do her part to clean up the spill :p  The carpet is now well scrubbed, thanks to her!  My only question was how?  How did milk fly?  Milk's not supposed to fly.  Maybe it might get spilled, but fly??  LOL...

Please be reassured, no yelling occurred!  LOL... Maybe a bit of grumping and panic, but no yelling :)  All I needed was to know how it happened, and then I was ready to move on.

In the end, I was only able to salvage one thing from my card... the glittery snowflake!  Since most of it doesn't show and I had blinged the entire thing, I was able to trim off the wet parts and still use it.  Other than that, not a single scrap was usable!  Now is when I need to admit that my daughter does not get *all* of her stubborness from her father, just *most* of it!  I was determined that this was going to be my first card for my guest DT spot!  So here it was, 9 at night and I'm starting over.  The only saving grace was that all of the thinking was done, it was just a matter of duplicating.  In the end it came out almost the same... I wasn't quite as happy with the colouring and cropping, but I didn't have the same number of hours to play with it this time.  Please don't ask what time I finished!  (Okay, since you're so snoopy, it was 2AM lol)

And here it is, hopefully worth it!

This beauty from Sweet November is named Neva, isn't she gorgeous?  She should be available from All That Scraps right away!

Here's a closeup:

And the inside:

I can't wait to share the rest of my projects with you!  Hopefully there are no other incidents...  I'll have to lock them up in a safe place until they are all completed and photographed!

So, if you want to see a really bad photo of me, pop over to the All That Scraps blog and check it out.  While you're there, be sure to check out all of the new stamps being released this month!

Snowy Hugs for Tilda

Wow, it's almost December!  Where does November go every year?  I haven't been around much lately, I have a few big projects in the works, and my house... well, we shouldn't go there!

This week at Paper Sundaes we are challenging you to 'Adorn Those Corners!'  Our sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp.  I hope you'll come and join us!

I am so in love with this winter's Magnolia Christmas release!  My card today uses Snowy Hugs, one of my favorites.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I *had* to have it!

I had to add some puffy paint on their fur trim, of course!  For the snow, I added some tinsel glitter from Martha Stewart.  You can see it a bit better in the closeup:

The snowflake paper is new this year from Echo Park, called Everybody Loves Christmas.  The aqua paper with the diamond pattern is from last year, by Kaisercraft.

Copic colour list:  Skin- E000, 00.  Pants, mitt, hat- BG10, 11, 13, 15, 9.  Coat- RV00, R81, 83.  Broom top- Y22, YR24, E34.  Broom handle- E40, E41.  Shoes, hair- E30, 34, 35.  Buttons- C3, 5, 7.  Shading on snowman- W0, 1, and chalk for cheek blush.

Double Pocket Gift Card Holder

Brr!  It's so cold here, I'm hibernating inside.  On the upside, I'm getting lots of baking done!  (Gingerbread x 2 yesterday, Banana Bread x 2 tonight).  On the downside, all that baking is not good for the waistline :)

In the spirit of yesterday's Gingerbread, I made a double pocket gift card holder today using Gingerbread Tilda!

I broke away from my Copic habit today and used my distress inks for Tilda.  It's been a while, so please excuse my colouring!  LOL

Here is a photo of my tags:

My New Stamp Storage

I just wanted to share my new stamp storage.  I know it's nothing revolutionary, but it's something that has been bugging me for a while.  I have all of my stamps mounted on EZ Mount Storage Panels in binders.  Anyone that's used these sheets though, knows that the stamps are not 100% secure.  Since I like to take my stamps with me to different locations sometimes, I was always living in fear that one might fall off and get lost!  Yesterday I finally gave in and went to our local office supply store.

I came away with a plastic file box, and 25 hanging files, for around $28 CDN.  If you're in the States, I'm sure you could get the exact same thing for much cheaper!  All I need to do now, is attach labels for the brand divisions.

This is 13 of the file folders, I will easily be able to fit in all 25, with room to spare.

I am planning on having one EZ Mount Storage Panel in each folder, with stamps on both sides.  Love those hAnglars!  :)

Oh, and if you think you're seeing blurry today, no; apparently my daughter got a bit too close to the dog when she was taking closeups of them snuggling.  There is a gigantic smudge in the middle of my lens, which I didn't notice until I was posting this!  Nice!  LOL

I figure I will be able to store close to 1000 stamps in one bin, and the bins are stackable.  Have stamps, will travel!  Just let me know when to be there!  :)

Just wanted to share the wonderful weather here, while I'm posting :)  At 2:30 we were at a balmy -24C.  (-34 with windchill).  I should have included the photo I took of my dog, staring out the window.  She's trying to see how long she can hold it!  LOL

Thank you!

One thing I can never get enough of is Thank You cards.  I can't think of a better way to show someone how much you appreciate their kindness.  This Pink Tilda with Rose was calling my name, to colour her up, and I thought she would be perfect for a Thank You card!

Materials used:  Pink Tilda with Rose, Papermania DP, Copics (RV00, R81, R83, E000, E00, E02, E30, E34, Y000, Y00, Y13, YG03, YG17, BV000; SU chalk for blush

Two days in a row? It must be Christmas!

Yes, that's right, another card!  I figure that it's time to panic now!  LOL... just 37 days until Christmas, and 10 of those are a total write-off for me, with 7 away from home!  This card is almost a total opposite of yesterday's Shopping Tilda non-traditional Christmas card! :)

I just love Christmas, and couldn't resist the newest release from Magnolia!  This card will probably be the first of many from this release!  I used the adorable Tilda with Fir here.  The sentiment is also from Magnolia.

I've added Dazzling Diamonds as snow on the tree, some copper glitter on her buttons, and puff paint on her fur trim.  I really wanted her coat to be burgundy, and I was decently happy with how it turned out, considering how fun red copics are to work with!  If you have a favorite burgundy colour combo, pretty please share it with me in my comments!  I'd love any suggestions :)

Friends are the true gifts

Isn't Christmas a crazy time of year?  All that running around, trying to find the perfect gifts?  I really should get mine done now, while it's not too busy!

I think this Tilda is so adorable!  I know she's not a traditional Christmas image, but I couldn't resist her!

I used some wool with colorless blender to add a bit of texture to her pants!

The Sundae bar is now open!

This week over at Paper Sundaes, we've opened up a Sundae toppings buffet and have asked that you pick at least two of our toppings to use in your creations this week.  You can pick from the colour blue, ribbon, punches, or embossing.

For my card today, I've picked the colour blue plus a punch, with some ribbon on the inside :)

I've kept the embellishments very simple and flat, since this card is going in the mail!  This little kitty sure is curious, he just had to see what I was doing to the inside!  I apologize in advance for the photo quality of this shot, you can tell that I took it at night!

I hope that you will come play along with us at Paper Sundaes this week!
